Singapore’s robotics industry is moving beyond its initial phase and entering a stage of “application maturity”. The increasingly developed ecosystem, together with advances in embodied AI technologies are opening opportunities for the local human-robot industry. Associate Prof Mohan Elara shares some insights on this.

Named Sable, the compact robot can be used indoors and outdoors to inspect rooftops, drains, and confined spaces for stagnant water, rodent infestations, pipe leaks, or damaged wiring.

Co-founded by SUTD alumnus Adam Huh Dam, Singapore Polytechnic graduate Chong Ing Kai, and National University of Singapore students Tew Jing An and Chong Kai Jie, edtech start-up Stick ’Em won US$1 million in seed funding to advance its mission of making STEAM education more affordable and accessible worldwide.
