Belinda Yuen

Dr Belinda Yuen is Professorial Fellow and Research Director, LKYCIC, SUTD. She is a qualified urban planner. Aside from master planning practice, Belinda has extensive research and publication in spatial planning and urban policy analysis, most recently, on planning healthy, liveable, sustainable cities.

Yang Xin
Research Fellow II, Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC), SUTD
Xin Yang is a Research Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC). She supports Dr Belinda Yuen (PI) and team on a number of projects under the Ageing Urbanism and Urban Innovation research programmes. She has a keen research interest in urban planning and design for age-friendly neighbourhoods, city for all ages, the connection between the built environment and population health, and urban innovation and transformation for sustainable development.
She is trained in the field of urban planning. Prior to joining LKYCIC, she was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Future Urban Mobility research team at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre and a member of the JTL Urban Mobility Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In her doctoral research, she examined the effects of China鈥檚 government-led job decentralisation policy on travel behaviour and household welfare. She developed an innovative modelling framework to measure household welfare outcomes of urban policy intervention based on the Sen-Nussbaum鈥檚 Capability Approach 鈥 a fundamental theory of social justice.

Francine Chan
Research Associate, Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC), SUTD
Francine is an urban researcher and designer with a focus on the social sciences behind urban morphologies. She has completed a MSc in Space Syntax at The Bartlett School of Architecture in London; and graduated in 2020 from Goldsmiths University of London (Design, BA Hons) with First Class Honours. Her research spans from mobility networks within the urban environment to analysing spatial patterns of social phenomena. She has also worked on speculative design works exploring the perception of spatial forms.
