About programme

The Master of Science in Technology and Design (Cybersecurity) is a programme that integrates design innovation with core cybersecurity and systems security principles.

Students develop design-led problem-solving skills through Innovation by Design and Design Science, while building strong technical expertise in information, network, systems, software, and cyber-physical systems security.

Practical capabilities are reinforced through hands-on experience with industry-standard security tools and real-world scenarios. Have access to world-class testbeds including Secure Water Treatment (SWaT) testbed, Water Distribution (WADI) testbed, Electric Power and Intelligent Control (EPIC) testbed, Research in Security Innovation Lab for Internet of Things (RESILIOT) testbed, and Maritime OT (MariOT) testbed, as well as a wide range of cyber twins (i.e., virtual environment for OT cybersecurity exercises).

Together, the programme equips graduates to design, develop, and secure innovative systems and products for today’s complex digital environments.

Message from the academic programme director

In the recent years, we have been witnessing many cybersecurity incidents globally, such as malware/ransomware attacks against enterprise IT systems, denial-of-service attacks occurring in a daily basis, and cyber terrorism against our critical infrastructure (water, power, transportation, etc.). To defend our modernised society against emerging cyber threats, education and training of cybersecurity experts are of urgent need globally.

To meet the demand, Master of Science in Technology and Design (Cybersecurity) offers one-year program to acquire theoretical foundation of the cybersecurity as well as hands-on skills that can be readily applicable in the industry jobs. The program delivers the perfect blend of theory and practice and emphasizes projects, in which students can, under the supervision of leading faculty members and researchers in network security, system security, cryptography, and cyber-physical systems security, translate the knowledge to address practical research challenges and evaluate the outcome in the state-of-the-art cybersecurity testbeds hosted by iTrust.
