Overview

The SUTD Institutional Review Board (SUTD-IRB) was established on 1 October 2012 and is dedicated to safeguarding the rights, safety, privacy, and welfare of human participants engaged ​in research activities conducted by SUTD students and researchers.​

This is an independent committee comprising both scientific and non-scientific members. The committee reviews and approves research studies that involve human participants, ​data, and tissues ​as well as providing continuing review of research studies, including the evaluation of ​protocol amendments.​

The SUTD-IRB is responsible for reviewing both Social, Behavioural, and Educational Research (SBER) and Human Biomedical Research (HBR) studies. Distinct guidelines and forms are applied based on whether the research falls under HBR or SBER.​
